What Is So When Are You Having Kids?

So When Are You Having Kids is a modern guide to family planning designed to help millennials and Gen Zers navigate everything from egg-freezing to adoption and even childlessness. It’s for women, men, same-sex couples, prospective single parents, and gender non-conforming people who want to make an educated and informed decision regarding if, when, and how they bring children into the world.

Who writes this newsletter?

Nice to meet you, I’m Jordan. I’m a health journalist with a decade of experience writing about everything from wellness to illness. My work has been featured on BuzzFeed, Men’s Health Magazine, Elemental, Teen Vogue, Everyday Health, and more.

This project is a personal one. There are books that tell you how to get pregnant and what to do once you get pregnant, but there’s not much to help you evaluate if, when, and how you should have kids.

When I was 24 I was told that if I wanted to have kids, I’d have to have them immediately. I wasn’t ready to be a parent but there I was trying to figure out how to afford IVF on top of my student loans, and whether or not I had enough upper body strength to carry a baby up a fifth-floor walk-up.

The more I began to answer if and how I wanted to have kids, the more I realized the need for more equitable and diverse family planning content. That’s what I’m setting out to create. I hope you join me along this journey.
